Back at the Pontifical College Josephinum Seminary
+AMDG
Greetings in Christ Jesus!
I pray your summer has gone well! Last Friday I arrived back at the Seminary here in Columbus, OH, and have been busy working this week as part of the Orientation Team for new seminarians.
Praise God, for this year 32 young men have decided to follow Christ by entering the Josephinum's college seminary! Most are 18-19 years old and fresh from high school!
Vocations are on the rise both here and with Glenmary. For this and all our blessings, we have much in which to be thankful!
Having worked at the Glenmary Farm, an Appalachian service and retreat center, these last summer months, Glenmary's charism has further grown dear to my heart.
This year, once again, I am the only seminarian studying for a religious society in the college seminary here (the rest are diocesan).
In reflecting upon my experiences last year, I have decided to delve deeper into Glenmary spirituality and simplicity, which in many ways reflects elements of one of Holy Mother Church's favorite saints, Francis of Assisi. His concern for all of God's creatures and nature, along with his poverty, and desire to spread the Good News are very inspiring to those of us aiming to bring the Catholic Faith into the neglected, rural, and remote areas of the U.S.A. where it has never been before!
In the coming weeks, I'll be offering you little snippets of seminary life, personal reflections, and lessons learned at the Glenmary Farm.
As I once again begin a new chapter in my life,
I beg your prayers this year and know that you are in mine!
In Christ's Service through His Blessed Mother,
Seminarian Shawn
