Explorations
Yesterday afternoon I went for a walk around town and hiked up part of Monte Rosso, a solitary hill with lovely views of the surrounding lake region, only to be chased down by approaching thunderstorms.
The area in which I am staying is called Verbania " Intra" because it lies between two mountain fed rivers that empty into Lago Maggiore.
I took a pedestrian path over an iron bridge (circa 1905) and couldn't help but reflect on how it must have witnessed the passing of troops, etc. during both world wars...

If you look closely, you can see the dome and bell tower of the basilica near where I am staying.
