Happy Birthday Rome!
Salve!
Yesterday was the 2,768th birthday of the city of Rome! It is amazing to live in such a historic city, traditionally referred to as Caput Mundi "the head of the world."
In former years, one would hear a greeting in Latin, such as the following:
In natalibus almae festis Urbis, quae impio ex cultu facta est Christianae gloriae monumentum, annum ab eadem condita MMDCCLXVIII commemoremus
"On the birthday of the Mother City, which from pagan worship has been made a monument of Christian glory, let us commemorate the 2768th year since its founding."
Following that theme, I'd like to share an interesting article with you from the NY Times- it shows how often the past and present blend together not only here in Rome, but throughout the country.

God love you!
